Diary (1862-1864) of Armstrong, recounting Company C's movements in southeastern Tennessee and northwestern Georgia. A history of the 33rd Alabama Infantry regiment compiled by L.B. Williams, from Company B's formation in March, 1862, until the end of the war. Consists principally of memoirs by W.E. Preston and Malvin L. Wheeler. Included are a brief history of the 18th Alabama Battalion, of which Wheeler was a member, partial rosters of the 33rd Alabama, typescripts of official documents, typescripts of newspaper clippings, and a genealogy of the Preston family.

Charles J. Armstrong, a farmer from Greenville, Alabama, enlisted in Company C, 33rd Alabama Infantry, in March, 1862. He was wounded and lost a leg during the battle of Pickett's Mill (Georgia) in May, 1864, and was discharged in October, 1864. W.E. Preston of Dale County, Alabama, enlisted in Company B, 33rd Alabama Infantry, in March, 1862. He was wounded at the battle of Franklin (Tennessee) in November, 1864.
